‘Tis The Season

Andy Williams said it best when he says:

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year”
“There’ll be kids jingle belling and everyone telling you be in GOOD CHEER”
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year”

I agree, the Christmas holiday season is considered the most wonderful and highly festive seasons of the year. There’s nothing like tree trimming, the return of St. Nick, lights and decorations, spending time with family and friends…maybe even some Christmas bonuses to put you in the holiday spirit.  It has the power to make the most cantankerous “Bah! Humbug!-er” find a soft spot.

The Christmas holiday also brings out the charitable sides of people and businesses.  We’re all familiar with the bell ringers of the Salvation Army braving the elements for contributions from passersby. Also, we’ve all heard “it is better to give than to receive”, and as eager as everyone is to receive, the demand to give is always much higher. It is extremely unfortunate that there is a huge population of people that are not fortunate enough to experience the magic and joys of the holiday and may be dependent on the kindness of others.

Not to pat ourselves on the back of anything, but here at Lou Fusz Buick GMC, we are doing amazing things this holiday to change the lives of those in need.  Through the St. Louis County Government Adopt A Family Holiday Project, we are making it a goal to do as much as we can to give four needy families a very special Christmas.  For this project, we are collecting clothing, toys, canned goods, boxed foods, personal care items and cleaning supplies to distribute to the families for the holiday season.

But wait….THERE’S MORE.

On November 14th, we began a 50/50 drawing. Twice a week, employees are donating from $1 up to $10 for a chance to win 50% of the money collected with the other 50% going to purchase items for the four adopted families.  The drawing will be running until December 14th and as of today, we have collected almost $700 of our $1,000 goal.  LET’S GO, FUSZERS!  Come outta them pockets!!!
If you’re looking to contribute, organizations such as The Salvation Army, The Red Cross and St. Louis Foodbank are great to contacts for information.  Remember that it’s never too late to donate to a needy family through a charity or doing your own leg work and donating directly.  It is so easy to get swept up in the commercialism of the holidays and providing a great Christmas for you and yours.  Let’s also make it a goal to do something special for someone else.  Who knows?  It could really make a difference.
